Day 7.
Lighting Ridge
Today was a day of interesting experience to go underground at the Black Hand Opal Mine first down 80 feet to where the first landing then
down another 30 feet to where the best opal was found it was a lot different to the mines in Coober Pedy and then to learn how Lighting Ridge
got its the story goes that back in the 1870s a shepherd his dog and 200 sheep where struck by lightning and killed but over the years the number
of sheep have grown to around 600 .
Then it was back to the park for a quiet couple of hours at the park before going to see Mel and Susie two of Australia’s best bush poets
and comedians.
