Tassie Road Trip


            Day 14.
     
            Today was a lovely pink sunrise and seeing Jos go of to work then breakfast 

             It was time to say goodbye to Cheryl our next stop was Mole Creek Caves

             and a drive through the lower part of the Great Western Tiers to Sheffield

             Railton,Latrobe to Devonport where we booked into our B&B the best

             little place in Devonport then to dinner at our host restaurant the Dannebrog.

             Day 13.

              After breakfast it was a short a walk around the town of Launceston we 

              then went for a boat ride down the Tamer River just past Brady’s Lookout

              then back and a short way up the South Esk River then up the North Esk

              River past the Penny Royal to the rapids then back to the dock at Home point.

              It was into the car and head to Town of Chadliegh to Jos and Cheryl’s.

              place for the night and a good night of remembrance.

Tassie Road Trip


            Day13.

            After a great nights sleep at Erica and Steve’s B&B in Bicheno we headed north 

            towards St Marys where we bought an old clock.

            We then stopped at St Helens where Val checked if the library had the book she

             has been trying to get they had it but could take it of the premises so back on

             the road five minutes up the road we passed a little place Shop in the Bush

             just to try and keep her happy I said do you want to check to see if they have

             it so back we went and in we went asking the owner about Norfolk Houn 

              and Beyond he said I have seen that book 30 seconds later Val was happier 

              then you could get.

              Next was Pyengana the cheese factory and The Pub in the Paddock then 

              the hour fifteen drive into Launceston.

Tassie Road Trip


              Day 11.

               Today was a leisure drive along the coast from Triabunna to Bicheno with 

               Stops at Mayfielf Beach not far up the road and very popular for campers

               with vans and tents but limited also the there was the three arch bridge.

               Next we stopped at the Spiky Bridge built by convicts in the 1820s.

               For lunch we stopped at Swansea a small fishing town next was 9mile beach

               and Melshell Oysters and Moulting Lagoon then a stop at Devils Corner winery.

               Arriving at Bicheno 1620 checking into our cabin then a look around town

                including the Blow Hole before having dinner at the Salty Splash Cafe and Takeaway

               one of the best seafood chowder I have ever had.

Tassie RoadTrip



             Day 10.

              Today was a early start to the day 07 00 departing Hobart for an hour

               drive to Triabunna for our boat ride around Maria Is.

               Our first stop was Darlington where the only buildings are on the island.

                It was first a convict settlement then a tourist location back to a convict

                 Settlement and finished as a cement factory before it was taken back

                 by the government as a national park.

                 Then we travel past Cape Boulanger, Fossil Bay, The Blow Hole to Mistaken Cape

                 Then it got to rough so we turned around and went back to the east side of the island

                  to Shoal Bay where we had lunch with a choice of smoked salmon,cheese Selection of meats

                  and salads.

                  It was then across Booming Bay to Return Point our next stop was Painted Cliffs

                  back to Darlington where we walked around what is left of the settlement and the wild life.

Tassie Road Trip


            Day 9.

            Today it was adventure day starting with a ferry ride from Kettering to 

            Bruny Is. 

             then a 40 Min drive to Adventure Bay then a boat ride with

             Pennicott Wilderness Journeys  to The Friars a (Seal Hauout ),

             Bridge Rock and Tasman Head via Fluted Cape,Kelp Forests, 

            The Monument,Breathing Rock and Bay of Islands. and what an adventure 

            it was. Then finished of with dinner with oysters,cheese,bread, beer and wine.
